Intermediate Workshop Overview
The Psycho/medico-legal 201 Workshop goes beyond the foundational knowledge of psycho/medico-legal report-writing and aims to guide and equip you with in-depth knowledge of the interview process, the actual medico-legal report and earnings assumptions.
Topics that will be addressed include relevant factors to consider with regards to loss of earnings, crucial information to be obtained and the importance of occupation-specific research. The impact of international and national trends, what is happening in South Africa, the economy, political climate, educational trends, etc. on possible/probable loss of earnings. The workshop will also explore how to utilise earnings information and various earnings assumptions, relevant salary scales, discussion on ethics, and how to account for the impact of various types of injuries on employment potential and career progression.
The different segments of a typical Industrial psycho/medico-legal report will be used as a guide to discuss the various topics.
Practical case studies will be shared by experienced Industrial Psychologists within the psycho/medico-legal field to ensure a practical and in-depth understanding of the content. Such will be discussed according to ethical guidelines as directed by the HPCSA and abiding by the POPI Act prescripts.
Psycho/medico-legal 201 is a 6-7 hour virtual workshop presented by experienced Industrial Psychologists. The workshop includes an interactive PowerPoint presentation, informative insights and examples, a discussion of current case studies, report writing, facilitated group discussions and a Q&A session.
